Safeguarding

Many of the people we serve are children or widows in vulnerable situations. Protecting their safety and dignity comes before everything else, including our own publicity.

Our commitments

  • We do not publish children’s names, schools or the addresses of the homes we visit.
  • We ask the permission of caregivers and home administrators before taking photographs, and we do not photograph a child who does not want to be photographed.
  • Volunteers visiting homes work in groups, are supervised by ARK staff and are never left alone with a child.
  • Support is never conditional on anything in return, including religious participation or being photographed.
  • Money is handled through the foundation account and recorded against the campaign it was given for.

Raising a concern

If you are worried about the safety or treatment of anyone connected with our work, email us with the subject line “Safeguarding”. Concerns go directly to the foundation’s leadership and are treated confidentially. Where a child may be at risk, we will report to the appropriate authorities.
